DPO Australia has worked with a coalition of Australian non-government organisations to prepare a report to the United Nations Committee on Economic, Social and Cultural Rights. This report will assist the Committee to review Australia’s progress in achieving economic, social and cultural rights for people in Australia. This review will take place at the UN at the end of May 2017.
DPO Australia provided information on a number of issues relevant to people with disability, including:
- Disability discrimination and the National Disability Strategy
- Discrimination against migrants and refugees with disability
- Employment
- Removal of children from parents with disability
- Compulsory treatment
- Forced sterilisation
- Indefinite detention without conviction
- Violence against people with disability
