An early start today for delegates as the side events kicked off in earnest. The IDA (international disability Association) sponsored a formal side event looking at the impacts of the Russian invasion on disabled people in Ukraine. This included a compelling live link from Kyiv.

The day rapidly progressed with the formal opening of COSP15 in the General Assembly Hall. This was followed by the election of members of the CRPD committee. We can thankfully report that Australia’s own Rosemary Kayess was re-elected for another three year term! Congratulations, Rosemary.

The day ended with General Debate including statements from NGOs. This will continue tomorrow. DPOA representatives giving statements include PWDA Vice President Kelly Cox and FPDN CEO Damian Griffis.

PWDA also held the first of their two side events today.

We’re looking forward to tomorrow’s full agenda and also catching up with Rosemary to celebrate her well earned re-election.
