DPO Australia Sending Delegation to 11th Conference of States Parties to the CRPD, June 2018

Representatives of the four Disabled People’s Organisations Australia (DPO Australia) organisations are attending the 11th Session of the Conference of States Parties (COSP) to the Convention on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities (CRPD) in June 2018 at the United Nations Headquarters in New York.

The annual conference brings together countries that have ratified the CRPD and representatives from DPOs and civil society organisations to discuss implementation of the CRPD and related international development issues. The theme of this years COSP is “Leaving no one behind through the full implementation of the CRPD”. It includes three subthemes:

  1. National fiscal space, public-private partnerships and international cooperation for strengthening the implementation of the CRPD
  2. Women and girls with disabilities
  3. Political participation and equal recognition before the law

The DPO delegation met with our fellow Australian civil society delegates and Government representatives earlier this week to discuss attendance and how the experiences of people with disability in Australia will be represented at COSP 11.

Look out for more information over the coming months!
